This is the award slide from the Singtel GD Hackathon 2020. We were Team 12, our project was BizVoice Automation, and we finished with second prize.
I came across it again while sorting through my files. The project repository is still there too, even though it’s quite different from what I work on now.
One thing I like about hackathons is having to decide what to finish when there isn’t enough time for everything. Coming up with features is easy. Building them, connecting them and having something to demonstrate takes a bit more choosing.
Looking at a project like this now, I’d probably start by trying its main workflow from beginning to end. Extra screens and features are useful, but they don’t do much for a demo if the main flow stops halfway through.
Working with other people also means agreeing on interfaces and responsibilities. Each part running on its own doesn’t guarantee they’ll work together. That still needs attention in larger projects.
The second prize is worth keeping a picture of. I like having the actual project around as well. It gives me something more useful to revisit than just a competition name.
